Nick is Assistant Director of IT Services (Infrastructure / Operations) at the University of Bristol. He studied an MSci in Chemistry at Bristol, and like many fell in love with the city and university. In 1998 he established the ResNet service, making Bristol the first UK university to provide high-speed Internet in all its halls.

Nick's particular interests include mobility, cloud computing, the social web and IT consumerisation. He is a firm believer that people are more important than technology, and that IT services succeed or fail due to social effects.

At Bristol Nick works to develop an understanding of IT strategy across all staff through the Futures Cafe programme. He also speaks on IT and education at a number of national and international conferences.
