• The Guidelines for Environmental Impact Assessment in Antarctica (COMNAP, 1999) - gives advice on methods, procedures, and processes involved in writing EIAs in Antarctica.

• Exploration of Antarctic Subglacial Aquatic Environments, Environmental and Scientific Stewardship (National Research Council, 2007) - sets out principles for environmental protection and includes guidance on sterility and cleanliness.

• Code of Conduct for the exploration and research of subglacial aquatic environments (SCAR 2010) - summarises proposed best practice principles, in drilling and lake entry and sampling and instrument deployment.
