Research Interests:

My research focuses on the seismological detection of anisotropy. This anisotropy can be caused by mineral re-orientation and ultimately interpreted as mantle flow. An other cause of anisotropy can be cracks. Currently, I am implementing a method of shear-wave splitting analysis within software used by Shell. This will help with understanding crack propagation and fracture characterization in oil reservoirs to improve production methods. Future research will involve the application of this method to mining problems (in collaboration with Rio Tinto). I am especially interested in the frequency dependence of shear wave splitting.

Meanwhile, I try to keep the following web pages up-to-date:

Using Cygwin in Geophysics
SplitLab
